Proving the stereotype true, I’ve once again changed my mind. The book I’ve been calling Blue Sky has a new name—River Reckoning, and it’s the first book in the Trouble in Trespass Series. Also, we have a release date! November 8th. That’s next Friday, so mark your calendars, save your pennies, take the day off from work, order pizza for the family so all you have to do is read my sexy little book!
Enough with the chit-chat. Here’s my teaser excerpt:
God, what was she doing? Everything about this was wrong, wrong, wrong. Nathan was here on official business, a U.S. Marshal for Pete’s sake, investigating someone she had known intimately a thousand years ago. They were strangers from two very different worlds.
Yet when he looked down at her, want etched deep in his molten chocolate eyes, Bond forgot to care about the reasons they shouldn’t do this. He was a man and she was a woman, simple as that. She wanted him, too, and she could have him this one night she told herself.
Promise, Bond, just one night.
It was a wonder the glass she held in her trembling hand didn’t shatter. Nathan pried it from her fingers, along with the bottle of bourbon, and set them on the shelf over her shoulder.
“Bond,” he said, stepping closer, the husky sound of her name like a languid tongue stroke up her spine.
The lingering trace of his aftershave mixed with the scent of his skin engulfed her, making her knees go weak and her constitution weaker. She opened her mouth to speak, but no sound came out. She swallowed and tried again.
“I … would you … I was…” Some seductress she was. Instead, she’d become a stammering idiot. She squeezed her eyes closed in embarrassment but fluttered them open when Nathan’s fingertips touched her throat.
Then his mouth was on hers, kissing away the doubt, smothering her worries, showing her he understood what she wanted. Nathan consumed her with his tenderness and his strength, all at once.
Bond clutched at the front of his t-shirt, holding him to her while she kissed him back, parting her lips to let him inside. Their tongues teased and explored, and he captured her sighs. She felt weightless, as though she were floating in warm water, drifting away from the safety of her moorings to a place where she’d likely be in over her head.
Nathan’s lips left hers to travel over her face, her jaw, her neck, dropping tender kisses wherever they landed. He licked at the hollow of her throat, a spot she could feel her pulse thrumming so fast she feared her heart might short circuit and quit. His hands skimmed over her shoulders, her back and hips, before he pulled her tight against his body. It felt so good to be held and touched this way, intimate. It made her feel wanted and intrinsically more female.
